(PORTLAND, Maine) — A group proposing alternative ferry service between Portland and Nova Scotia has secured a ship for the route, the Portland Press Herald reported. Canamerica Cruises plans to use a 30-year-old vessel similar to Scotia Prince, which operated on the route from 1982 to 2004. Ferry service resumed across the Gulf of Maine last year with the recently built Nova Star, but critics say the fares are too expensive.
