Grounded Lake Erie ferry refloated with help of tugboat

(KINGSVILLE, Ontario) — The Pelee Island ferry that ran aground has been refloated and docked, the Globe and Mail newspaper reported. The MV Jimaan got stuck on a sandbar Thursday, and 33 passengers spent the night aboard the vessel on Lake Erie before it was dislodged by a tugboat this afternoon. Earlier reports that they would be evacuated from the grounded ferry proved not to be the case, as the Canadian Coast Guard judged the weather conditions to be too dangerous for such an operation.
