(VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.) — A grounded 570-foot barge is moving closer to the Sandbridge Beach fishing pier, the Virginian-Pilot newspaper reported. The Crowley Maritime barge broke free from its tug in heavy weather and drifted toward shore, and another tug sent to coral it faced 20-foot seas and couldn’t reach it. Other vessels in the region are dragging anchor, one barge broke free and one ship had its fuel contaminated.
