Galveston-Texas City pilots’ rate hikes to be discussed at hearing

(GALVESTON, Texas) — A hearing has been set for Monday on the question of whether the Galveston-Texas City Pilot Assocation should receive rate increases over the next three years, the Galveston County Daily News newspaper of reported. Industry groups have formally objected to the Board of Pilot Commissioners, who are considering rate of increases of 8 percent, 8 percent and 7 percent over the next three years. The pilots argues that they are inappropriately subsidizing the increased pilotage costs for the industry.
