Freighter’s bow damaged in grounding off British Columbia

(VANCOUVER, British Columbia) — A freighter sustained serious damage to its bow when it ran aground in Douglas Channel, the national Globe and Mail newspaper reported. The Petersfield was loaded with soda ash and lumber when the accident happened. Local native officials say the incident doesn’t bode well for the safety of the future tanker traffic if a proposed pipeline is built in the area.
