(DULUTH, Ga.) — Force5 Marine has released a new spray protectant that works as a corrosion inhibitor, lubricant and cleaner to protect engines and other critical equipment. The product is being used on several U.S. Navy and Coast Guard vessels and is being evaluated for use in North Carolina’s ferry system.
The harsh marine work environment can lead to the failure of critical equipment including engines, pumps, winches, fittings, valves, switches, lighting and electrical gear, if not properly maintained. The failure of any such equipment due to corrosion can threaten safety as well as require costly down time, repairs or replacement.
Force5 Marine spray protectant penetrates into metal parts to prevent rust and corrosion while forming a bond that repels salt water and other contaminants.
To prevent corrosion and electrolysis at electrical connections, the spray also can be applied liberally to wiring, switches, circuit boards, electrical gear and battery terminals as well as other electronic circuitry. Because the spray has very strong dielectric properties, spraying it on problematic switches, lighting or electronic equipment can often restore proper electrical connection as well.
For marine vessels that require cleaning of metal and electromechanical parts, the spray loosens and removes rust from even corrosion-encrusted parts. The spray is also a heavy-duty cleaner and degreaser.
