Fla. research ship sold to Brazil buyer amid U.S. tax probe

(FORT PIERCE, Fla.) — The environmental research ship Seward Johnson has been sold to a Brazilian organization, the news Web site TCPalm.com reported. The Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute, part of Florida International University, sold the vessel to Cepemar Group. U.S. investigators are probing whether the Florida organization owes $200,000 in taxes on work done on the ship in the Bahamas.
