First ship of the season runs aground in St. Lawrence Seaway

(BEAUHARNOIS, Que.) — The first ship of the season to travel up the St. Lawrence Seaway has run aground, CTV News reported. The Transportation Safety Board of Canada said the Canadian bulk carrier CWB Marquis went aground Friday after hitting a large ice floe near Beauharnois, Quebec, about 20 miles southwest of Montreal. The vessel was awaiting assistance from a tugboat Friday afternoon.
