First 'post-Panamax' ship arrives in Port Miami

Majesty

(MIAMI) — Two weeks after the wider locks in the Panama Canal opened, a new class of megaships is starting to call on U.S. ports. The first of these vessels, the 1,000-foot MOL Majesty, arrived at Port Miami on Saturday, according to WLRN news radio. Majesty's arrival follows $2 billion in port upgrades to accommodate larger ships. Chief among those improvements was a dredging project to make the shipping channel 50 feet deeper, the station reported.
