(LONG BEACH, Calif.) — The first hybrid tugboat has arrived for service at the Port of Long Beach, the Press-Telegram newspaper reported. Foss Maritime’s Carolyn Dorothy is a 78-foot vessel that does not use diesel when it’s idling, cutting emissions by half. The tug has 126 12-volt batteries, which can be plugged in and recharged at dock.
