Dredge’s ruptured hydraulic line likely cause of Columbia River sheen

The following is the text of a press release issued by the U.S. Coast Guard:

 

(SEATTLE) — Personnel from Coast Guard Sector Portland, Ore., and the Washington Department of Ecology are investigating an oil sheen in the Columbia River near Washougal, Wash., Friday.

The suspected source of the release is a dredge that is operating in the area. Upon the teams arrival at the dredge, oil was observed on the decks. The cause is believed to be a ruptured hydraulic line which has been secured.

The cause of the sheen is under investigation.
