(SEATTLE) — A woman seeking to become the first female maritime pilot in Puget Sound has been awarded $3.6 million in a discrimination lawsuit, KING 5 News reported. Capt. Katherine Sweeney, who spent seven years at the helm of Matson containerships, said she came up against a "good ol' boys' network" and widespread nepotism. She sued the state's Board of Pilotage Commissioners, which had voted against issuing her a pilot's license.
