Feds sue BP, Transocean, Anadarko in Deepwater Horizon case

(WASHINGTON) — The federal government sued BP Plc and other companies involved in the Deepwater Horizon spill, the Reuters news service reported. The lawsuit, which also targets Transocean Ltd. and Anadarko Petroleum Corp., mentions the possibility of gross negligence in the rig explosion that caused the largest offshore oil spill in U.S. history. Contractors Halliburton and Cameron International weren’t named in this lawsuit, but Attorney General Eric Holder said the investigation is continuing and more defendants could be added.
