(PASCAGOULA, Miss.) — VT Halter Marine has been fined $1.3 million for safety violations in the 2009 explosion that killed two workers, the Mississippi Press newspaper reported. The blast occurred inside an articulated tug barge at the shipyard. Two other people were injured. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration said it identified 17 willful safety violations.
