(SAIPAN) — A U.S. judge has delayed sentencing of a merchant mariner who falsified his Coast Guard license, the Saipan Tribune newspaper reported. The defendant allegedly told the Coast Guard in 2009 at Saipan that he had a valid merchant mariner’s license but that he had sent it to the National Maritime Center for renewal. In fact, he had altered an expired license, and he pleaded guilty to misuse of a federal license.
