February launch set for North America's first LNG bunker barge

(SOUTH NORWALK, Conn.) — Clean Marine Energy LLC has announced that North America’s first liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunker barge is scheduled to be launched in February, the American Journal of Transportation reported. Construction of the hull is nearly complete at Conrad Shipyard in Orange, Texas, and abrasive blasting and painting is scheduled to begin in the coming weeks. The barge will be delivered to Jacksonville, Fla., in the third quarter of 2016 to service TOTE’s Marlin-class containerships and other LNG-powered vessels.
