EPA research ship spills diesel fuel into Virginia’s Elizabeth River

(NORFOLK, Va.) — A research vessel recently purchased by the Environmental Protection Agency spilled as much as 1,700 gallons of diesel fuel into the Elizabeth River, the Virginian-Pilot newspaper reported. The Rude was formerly owned by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The spill happened at NOAA’s Marine Operations Center.
