Engineers trying carpet of air to lessen hull drag, save on fuel

(OSLO) — DK Group has developed an air-cavity system to reduce hull drag as ships travel across the sea, Scientific American magazine reported. The air-carpet system, which recently underwest a sea trial off Norway, can reduce drag by 7 percent. That could save on fuel and reduce emissions.
