Elliott Bay Design Group opens Alaska office

The following is the text of a news release from Elliott Bay Design Group:

(SEATTLE) — Elliott Bay Design Group (EBDG), the naval architecture and  marine engineering firm based in Seattle and New Orleans, has established an office in Ketchikan, Alaska to meet growing customer demand in that region.

EBDG is the preferred service provider for a number of Alaska-based companies with which it shares long-standing relationships.  EBDG is a proud member of the Ketchikan Marine Industry Council, and shares that body's commitment to expanding Ketchikan's marine industrial capacity. The Council's diverse membership represents a cross section of Ketchikan's business and civic leaders and highlights the city's many strengths and capabilities.

Said Brian King, EBDG VP of engineering, "This move enables us to better serve our Alaska clients and to establish new relationships and deepen existing ones. We hope to enjoy beneficial business partnerships in the state for some time to come."

The new office is located in Ketchikan's Ward Cove community at 7559 North Tongass Highway and will serve as EBDG's base of operations within the state.  This recent move represents months of strategic planning and occurs in alignment with the company's stated goals to provide support to clients operating within Alaska and to serve as a regional resource for quick reaction field engineering.

EBDG's flagship office in Seattle was founded in December 1987 when three partners purchased the assets of a sixty-year-old naval architecture firm, Nickum & Spaulding Associates, Inc.  In 2006, the employee-owned enterprise established a presence on the Gulf Coast and today continues to support clients across the United States.  Of late, the company has experienced steady growth acquiring talent at the rate of several hires a month since the beginning of 2013.
