(PANAMA CITY, Fla.) — Eastern Shipbuilding has launched Ellis Island, the barge component of an ATB hopper dredge, for Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Corp., Dredging News reported. The 433-foot barge was launched Sept. 30 and has a hopper volume of 15,000 cubic yards. It will be mated to the tug Douglas Mackie, which is expected to launch later this year.
