Dockage fees mounting as USS Vandenberg stays at Colonna’s

(KEY WEST, Fla.) — The decommissioned naval ship USS Vandenberg is still sitting at a Virginia shipyard, with dockage fees mounting, the Florida Keys Keynoter newspaper reported. The 520-foot vessel is supposed to be scuttled to create a reef off Key West, but court papers on its sale have been delayed. The Vanderberg has been tied up at Colonna’s Shipyard, waiting for a tugboat to tow it to Florida.
