(LEVIS, Quebec) — The Davie Shipyard on Friday launched the 427-foot Cecon Pride, an offshore construction vessel that the company says is the largest ship built in Canada in 20 years, CBC News reported. The ship is the first in a series of three being built for Norwegian offshore contractor Cecon ASA. Davie, which has been in and out of bankruptcy since 1976, was bought last year by Zafiro Marine of Britain.
