Crowley Maritime Corporation’s liner services group has again been named among the “Best of the Best” in Logistics Management magazine’s 28th Annual Quest for Quality Awards. The results were published in the August edition. A company representative will accept the award at the annual 2011 Quest for Quality Awards gala dinner Oct. 5 in Philadelphia, Pa.
The results are part of an extensive survey involving responses from more than 5,400 magazine readers who have responsibility for buying transportation and third-party services. To be named a leader in each category, a company had to receive at least 5 percent of the category vote.
Crowley received high rankings in the ocean carrier segment, when judged for on-time performance, value, information technology, customer service and equipment and operations, and was among a unique group of back-to-back winners in the category.
“This recognition is a reflection of the dedication of our exceptional employees, who always strive to create great partnerships with our customers and exceed expectations,” said Tom Crowley, Jr., chairman, president and CEO. “We are very pleased and grateful to be recognized by our customers and by Logistics Management magazine as one of the leading shipping and logistics companies in the world.”
“The container shipping industry may be standing on the brink of an ‘era-defining moment’ as it faces fundamental challenges with growing equipment and capacity constraints,” said a spokesperson for Logistics Management in the August issue. “There needs to be greater dialogue between carriers and ocean shippers over the next 12 months in an effort to create more mutual, economic partnerships. And while this new period of collaboration is evolving, we can report with some confidence that shippers have established valuable relationships with the 14 carriers sailing away with Quest for Quality gold this year.”
