Crowley fuel barge breaks from moorings, drifts down Alaska rivers

(FAIRBANKS, Alaska) — A Crowley Petroleum barge broke loose from its winter mooring on the flooding Tanana River, the Daily News-Miner newspaper reported. The 170-foot vessel is now drifting down the Yukon River, and Crowley sent a helicopter crew to install an anchor, which failed. The company now will send the tug Rampard to catch up with the runaway barge and bring it under tow.
