Creditors seek $800,000 owed by operator of Maine ferry

(PORTLAND, Maine) — The operator of ferry service between Maine and Nova Scotia owes creditors at least $800,000 after two disappointing seasons at sea, the Portland Press Herald reported. Nova Star, the ferry that operated between Portland and Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, is anchored in Portland Harbor after being seized by the U.S. Marshals Service for the unpaid bills. Outstanding debts include $500,000 for bunker fuel and nearly $200,000 for the Portland Pilots.
