Court: U.S. ship can do seismic tests off British Columbia coast

(VANCOUVER, British Columbia) — A Canadian court has decided to allow a U.S. research ship to do seismic testing on the ocean floor off British Columbia, The Province newspaper of Vancouver reported. Environmental groups had protested the seismic research, arguing that the decibel level would be harmful to whales in the marine protected area. The court ruled that RV Marcus G. Langseth can do the seismic testing, but the court ordered that the decibel level be restricted to a lower level.
