Comments sought on Lake Erie wind power project

The following is the text of a news release from the U.S. Coast Guard:

(CLEVELAND) — The U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Department of Energy and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers have published the draft environmental assessment for Project Icebreaker, a proposed six turbine offshore wind project located eight to 10 miles off of Cleveland.

The public is invited to submit written comments on the draft environmental assessment (EA) that can be found at: https://www.energy.gov/nepa/downloads/ea-2045-draft-environmental-assessment

Please direct any written comments by Oct. 10 to: U.S. DOE, Golden Field Office, NEPA Division, 15013 Denver West Parkway, Golden, CO 80401, or by email to ProjectIcebreaker@ee.doe.gov.

Additionally, DOE, USACOE, and USCG will host an informational open house on the Project Icebreaker draft environmental assessment from 4-7 p.m. on Sept. 6 at the Lakewood Park Woman’s Club Pavilion, 14532 Lake Ave., Lakewood, OH 44107.
