Coast Guard Credential Testing Hosted at Mid-Atlantic Maritime Academy

Virginia Beach, VA — United States Coast Guard testing will be hosted at Mid-Atlantic Maritime Academy (MAMA) in Virginia Beach on June 7-11, 2010. All mariners who are pre-approved to test by the Coast Guard’s National Maritime Center are welcome to register.

Mariners can avoid long travels to Regional Exam Centers out of state and gain the potential edge of taking exams immediately following training and exam preparations in Hampton Roads.

Applications for approval to take these exams should be submitted to the Coast Guard as soon as possible to allow for extensive processing. Mid-Atlantic Maritime Academy provides merchant mariner credential application package services and career guidance by appointment.

The National Maritime Center requires mariners to register for the June 7-11 exam dates before May 21 by contacting Mid-Atlantic Maritime Academy. Registration form is available on the MAMA web site.

MAMA offers 74 Coast Guard certified mariner training classes in deck and engineering. Engine Room and Deck exam preparation courses will be offered at MAMA immediately before the local testing takes place.

Mid-Atlantic Maritime Academy also holds free weekly informational sessions on Fridays at 1 p.m.

Contact the school if you are interested in becoming a merchant mariner, transitioning from the military or learning of Coast Guard issued credential process updates.
