(VANCOUVER, Wash.) — Christensen Shipyard is pleased to announce the signing of a contract for a Custom 164’ (50M) Series project. The almost $36 million USD contract was completed during the Miami Yacht and Brokerage Show, February 13-17. The 164’ Custom Series will feature a new exterior styling encompassing a fold out balcony and a swim deck extension. The interior will provide 6 spacious cabins, including: owners, VIP, and 4 guest cabins accommodating up to 12 guests. Delivery for this Christensen is August of 2016.

Currently, as the nation’s largest producer of motor yachts over 120 feet, almost 90% of the contract price goes into payroll, health care, local and American made materials, goods, services, local and federal taxes. Christensen currently employs 380 full-time jobs, and potentially will hire 100 more employees going through 2016. Christensen is equally proud to be able to exemplify “value” by eliminating waste through lean manufacturing and is recognized as world’s top-quality leader through re-emphasizing American proud manufacturing.

In addition to the new 164' contract, Christensen currently has in total nine yachts under contract and the ACTUV program with Oregon Ironworks and SAIC for DARPA.
