(BUFFALO, N.Y.) — A cargo ship carrying road salt became stuck on a mud shoal near the Buffalo River, the Buffalo News newspaper reported. The 734-foot John D. Leitch needed assistance from the Great Lakes Towing. The vessel was dislodged from shoal near Buffalo Harbor and sailed safely out into Lake Erie, and the Coast Guard said there was no damage.
