Cargo ship strikes steel barrier, narrowly misses bridge workers

(WEYMOUTH, Mass.) — A cargo ship struck a temporary steel barrier at the Fore River Bridge, the Weymouth News newspaper reported. The barrier had been erected to protect bridge maintenance workers, who narrowly escaped injury. The ship Cosette was delivering cargo to the nearby Cashman yard. There was no damage to the bridge.
