Car carrier is first ship to call at Bridgeport in almost a year

(BRIDGEPORT, Conn.) — The car carrier Pleiades Spirit this week became the first ship to call at Bridgeport since April 2008, the Connecticut Post newspaper reported. The vessel loaded used cars and buses that will be sold in the Middle East. More car carriers are scheduled to call at the port, and officials there are in talks to return Bridgeport to its former status as a fruit import terminal.
