Captain dies, three rescued after tug sinks near Long Island

(BARRETT BEACH, N.Y.) — The captain of a tugboat died and three other crewmen were rescued after their vessel sank near New York's Fire Island, Patch.com reported. Authorities said Donald Maloney was the only one of the foursome who failed to don an immersion suit while Sea Bear was sinking on Saturday afternoon. The tug's crew barely had time to get a mayday call out to the Coast Guard, which sent a rescue boat and found the three survivors huddled together. Crew from the tugboat Willie Lander located Maloney's body a short time later.
