Canadian company acquiring vessels for undersea mining

(VANCOUVER, B.C.) — Nautilus Minerals, based in Vancouver, is shopping for vessels to help fulfill its vision of mining for gold and copper on the ocean floor, the Canadian Press reported. The world’s first deepwater mining and exploration company has signed a US$125 million contract with North Sea Shipping Holding AS for the use of a 160-meter-long crane ship for five years. North Sea Shipping normally serves the offshore oil and gas industry.
