Canada detains 2 stowaways found on box ship at Halifax

(HALIFAX, Nova Scotia) — Two Arabic-speaking stowaways will be detained by the Canadian government after they were discovered hiding on a containership in Halifax harbor, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported. The Atlantic Concert had sailed to Halifax from Liverpool, England. Canadian law requires the shipping company to pay $25,000 each time a ship brings a stowaway into the country.
