(HOUMA, La.) — The explosive growth in the Houma-Thibodaux region is decelerating, but the area is still experiencing a net gain of maritime jobs, the Daily Comet newspaper reported. Shipbuilding contracts and existing deepwater projects are keeping the employment outlook steady along the Gulf Coast. Some oilfield companies are cutting cost and laying off employees, however.
