(JACKSONVILLE, Fla.) — Crowley Shipping announced Tuesday that industry veteran Bryan Nichols is moving over to the company’s marine services team as manager, business development.
With 30 years of experience, Nichols has built a career helping develop industry-leading solutions for ship assist and escort tugboats. Nichols spent the past four years in business development at Crowley’s Seattle-based naval architecture and marine engineering subsidiary, Jensen Maritime. Prior to joining Crowley and Jensen in 2015, Nichols worked on the vessel construction side of the industry at family-founded Nichols Brothers Boat Builders.
In his new role, Nichols will leverage his knowledge to continue and enhance Crowley’s ship assist and escort services for tankers, containerships and other vessels. Having entered the ship assist industry in 1906, Crowley now owns and operates one of the most advanced fleets of ship assist and tanker escort tugs in North America. These vessels operate in some of the busiest ports along the U.S. West Coast – including Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles-Long Beach and San Diego – assisting the largest ships through some of the tightest, most environmentally sensitive waterways in the world.

Nichols will continue to be based in Seattle, and will report to Kate Fuhrman, director, business development and strategy.
