(VANCOUVER, British Columbia) — Maritime industry workers are rallying to bring food and gear to the stranded crew of the containership Hanjin Scarlet, which has been anchored off Saturna Island since the company filed for bankruptcy earlier this year, Business Vancouver reported. Although the ship's cargo was offloaded in Vancouver more than a month ago, the 13 crewmembers are in limbo because they can’t come ashore without being arrested. “I think crew morale is really low,” said Kevin Lee, vice president of the B.C. Ferry and Marine Workers’ Union. Packages will include food, warm clothing and other cold weather gear, DVDs and games, and cash for the Filipino and South Korean crewmembers to send home to their families.
