(EVANSVILLE, Ind.) — Barges being pushed by a towboat struck a bridge along the Ohio River, the Evansville Courier & Press newspaper reported. The towing vessel Yvonne Conway was downbound with 12 empty barges when two of them hit the Route 41 bridge. Highway officials closed the bridge during rush hour until an inspection revealed that it was not damaged.
