Barge that grounded in Canada may have spilled gas

(FORT SIMPSON, Northwest Territories) — A punctured barge may have spilled gasoline into the Mackenzie River, but authorities say they weren't notified by the shipping company until a week after the incident, CBC News reported. According to the Canadian Coast Guard, a Northern Transportation Company Ltd. (NTCL) barge grounded near Fort Simpson on its way back from a delivery on July 27. The CCG said the company issued contradictory statements about whether a spill occurred.
