Barge strike closes Louisiana bridge

(NATCHITOCHES PARISH, La.) — A Red River bridge was closed early Thursday after it was hit by a barge, KSLA News reported. U.S. Coast Guard officials said the high water level caused the towboat pilot to lose control at the Grand Ecore Bridge, leading to the barge strike. The barge sustained a small dent and no injuries were reported. The bridge will remain closed until officials can inspect it.
