Barge crewman saves captain’s life after cabin cruiser sinks off Mass.

(BEVERLY, Mass.) — A crewman conducting maintenance work on moorings was credited with saving the life of an experienced captain whose cabin cruiser sank, the Salem News newspaper reported. The 38-foot boat sank rapidly in Salem Harbor and the lone occupant was temporarily trapped and then struggled to survive in the water. Sam Zocco of Quality Marine steered his maintenance barge to the man and pulled him to safety. The victim said he couldn’t have survived much longer in the cold water.
