ATB tug leaking fuel after running aground off British Columbia

(BELLA BELLA, British Columbia) — An articulated tug-barge that carries petroleum products to and from Alaska through British Columbia’s Inside Passage ran aground early Thursday near Bella Bella, the Vancouver Sun reported. Nathan E. Stewart, an ATB tug owned by Kirby Corp., was heading southbound in Seaforth Channel with an empty barge when the vessels ran aground on Edge Reef just after 0100 hours. The 100-foot tug reportedly was leaking diesel fuel and emergency responders were en route.
