Nuclear power gains steam as regulators eye maritime use

Launched in 1959, the NS (Nuclear Ship) Savannah was one of only four nuclear-powered cargo ships ever built. Owned by MarAd, Savannah was operated by States Marine Lines Inc. between 1962 and 1972.
