Hanwha Philly delivers third NSMV as academy fleet takes shape

State of Maine, the current training ship at Maine Maritime Academy, will soon be replaced by a new national security multi-mission vessel (NSMV) delivered by Hanwha Philly Shipyard. The current vessel, originally built in 1997 as the commercial tanker MV American Eagle and later converted for academy use, has served as a training platform since 2003. Its future disposition has not been publicly announced.
