All American Marine has delivered a highly customized vessel for Honolulu-headquartered Hawaii Dolphin Tours.
The 70-passenger vessel Poseidon is a 50-foot x 17-foot semi-displacement aluminum catamaran hull developed by Nic de Waal of Teknicraft Design in Auckland, New Zealand. The vessel was built at All American Marine’s facility on Bellingham Bay, Wash. and is based in Oahu, adding significant capacity to Hawaii Dolphin’s range of snorkel and tour vessel operations.
Built to U.S. Coast Guard Subchapter T regulations, Poseidon is fitted with a propulsion package that includes twin fuel efficient Cummins QSB 6.7 SL-SW engines that drive fixed-pitch propellers. Fitted with a helm station on the bow and stern of the upper deck, the vessel’s master has optimal “open air” viewing angles.
Poseidon’s design “offers all passengers and crew a smooth ride and optimal comfort, as the unique hull provides a cushioned effect when encountering waves onboard the vessel,” according to a statement from AAM, which adds that “guests will be delighted with open-air views from all 70 seats, with wrap-around views on the main and upper decks.”
The unique design of the vessel includes installation of a built-in slide and customized easy-to-use boarding ladders that permit guests to slide into the water and quickly get back aboard.
“We knew that All American Marine was the best builder when it came time to build a new custom boat for our tour operation,” said Yuriko Iruka, owner of Hawaii Dolphin. “Our experience during the project design and construction has been excellent. We are excited to improve our guests’ experience, and to enhance our tour operations in Oahu. AAM has made our long-term goals a reality.”
All American Marine “is committed to creating a long-term win-win situation for each of our customers. From passenger ferries to unique and customized tour vessels like Poseidon, we strive to make their operations successful by building quality boats at a fair price and supporting our customer’s needs” stated All American Marine’s president & COO, Ron Wille.
