Arkansas officials: Steamboat Mary Woods II will not be rebuilt

(NEWPORT, Ark.) — State and local officials have decided not to rebuild the historic steamboat Mary Woods II, television station KAIT reported. Investigators initially though vandals had caused the boat to sink at its pier last year, but they later ruled that a leak was the culprit. Now they say it’s too expensive to salvage and rebuilt the vessel, so parts of it will be sold to fund a park visitors center.
