(MEMPHIS, Tenn.) — The American Queen Steamboat Co. will convert a former floating casino into a vessel for Mississippi River cruises, The Commercial Appeal reported. The company bought Isle of Capri, docked on the Mississippi in Bettendorf, Iowa, in August. It will keep the hull and power plant and build out a new three-deck superstructure in the same wedding cake-style as the larger, six-deck American Queen. The shipyard that will handle the retrofit of the new 166-passenger vessel, American Duchess, was not disclosed.
