Aker Philadelphia shipyard seeks $150M loan from MarAd

(PHILADELPHIA) — Aker Philadelphia says it needs a  $150 million loan from the U.S. Maritime Administration to stay in business, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported. The shipyard has ordered parts to build two tankers but has no buyer lined up for the vessels. The company faces the prospect of laying off 1,200 workers next year.
