Barge runs aground off Nova Scotia, dumps large load of lumber

(PICTOU, Nova Scotia) — A barge ran aground on a sandbar in the Northumberland Strait and dumped a large load of lumber, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported. The Sault au Cochon’s owners says cleanup of the 3,000 cords of pulpwood could take a month. Salvage crews were attempting to refloat the vessel over the weekend.
